Aperture PhotoBook Club

Ari Marcopoulos: Zines

Wednesday, July 12

1:00 p.m. EDT

Join the Aperture PhotoBook Club in June to discuss Ari Marcopoulos: Zines. Aperture’s executive director, Sarah Meister, will be joined by Ari, Lesley A. Martin who shepherded the book as part of Aperture’s spring list, and Ari’s longtime collaborator Roger Willems, who helped conceptualize and design Zines.

Ari Marcopoulos: Zines (Aperture, 2023) collects in one volume for the first time a selection of zines by the artist, many never before released, providing a unique insight and overview into an essential part of this influential artist’s daily practice. Often self-published or created in collaboration with boutique and independent publishers like ROMA, Dashwood Books, and PPP Editions, Ari’s informal, DIY-aesthetic creations function as sketchbook, diary, installation space, and a means of processing photographs of his life, his family, his neighborhood, and the creative cultural milieu in which he operates.

This virtual public program is free and open to all.

The Aperture PhotoBook Club brings together a constellation of artists and individuals engaged with photobook-making for conversations that inform and inspire photo-loving audiences around the world.

Join the Club to receive news on upcoming gatherings and discounts on featured photobooks.
