Join Aperture Gallery for the opening reception of CLAP!, a four-day, pop-up reading room, presents 130 contemporary Latin American photobooks from 2000 to 2016, representing a range of exciting innovations in Latin American photography and publication practice. Chilean photographer Luis Weinstein and Venezuelan photobook designer Ricardo Báez will share their work and broad knowledge of contemporary Latin American photobooks during the event.

Selected by twelve Latin American specialists, the reading room is a hands-on opportunity for North American audiences to browse a range of recently published books from Latin America that are rarely seen or available in the U.S.. CLAP! includes photobooks by Gian Paolo Minelli, Pablo Larreta, Gilberto Tomé, Carolina Cattan, Lourdes Grobet, Rodrigo Ramos, Juan Toro Diez, Pal Kerese Riveros, Abraham Araujo and Gustavo Dao (aka Bestialo Culapsus), Adelaide Ivánova, Ana Pereira da Costa, Ramiro Chaves, Nicolás Sáez, Erick Faúndez, Andrés Marroquín Winkelmann, Nicolas Torres, Juan Diego Valera, Mayana Redin, Enrique Metinides, Carlos Altamirano, Lorena Guillén, Pablo Guidali, Federico Estol, Deborah Castillo and Alonso Núñez, Bob Wolfenson, Julio Bittencourt, and many others.

Organized by the nonprofit 10×10 Photobooks, the project initially launched at the PGH Photo Fair at the Carnegie Museum of Art in Pittsburgh this past May, and will pop-up at the Aperture Foundation in New York City November 2–5, 2016, before concluding at the Museum Fine Arts, Houston (MFAH) in March 2017. At the end of the tour all the books in the project will be donated to the Hirsch Library at the MFAH.
