The Photographic Universe II

Wednesday, April 10 – Thursday, April 11

Theresa Lang Center 55 West 13th Street New York, N.Y.

As the field of photography finds itself at a moment of historic change, Aperture Foundation and The New School—including the School of Art, Media and Technology at Parsons The New School for Design and the Vera List Center for Art and Politics—present “The Photographic Universe II,” a two-day conference that brings together a range of leading practitioners, scientists, theoreticians, historians, and philosophers to consider and reflect on current discussions in photography. Building upon the success of the first conference, held in 2011, the event will consist of one-on-one conversations between individuals from distinct professional and research backgrounds. The conference will conclude with a roundtable focusing on photographic education.

Participants include: Becca Albee, Ariella Azoulay, Eduardo Cadava, Song Tae Chong, Joshua Chuang, Simon Critchley, Todd Cronan, Mia Fineman, Allen Frame, Victoria Hattam, Marvin Heiferman, Tom Keenan, Jeanine Oleson, Laurel Ptak, Doug Rickard, Fred Ritchin, Eric Saltzman, Katrina Sluis, Hito Steyerl, Lynne Tillman, Andreas Velten, Andrew Norman Wilson.
