The School of Visual Arts MPS Graduate Fashion Photography presents Phyllis Posnick and Olivia bee in conversation at Milk Gallery. Posnick and Bee will be discussing fashion photography as an act of collaboration and in context of significant cultural and technological change. The conversation will be moderated by Stephen Frailey, co-chair of the SVA Graduate Fashion Photography program and editor of Dear Dave, magazine. Afterwards, they will both be signing copies of their books Stoppers (Posnick, Abrams, 2016) and Kids in Love (Aperture, 2015).

Olivia Bee (born in Portland, Oregon, 1994) is based in Brooklyn. After the recognition received for her photographs on social media, Converse commissioned Bee, at the age of fifteen, to shoot her first ad. She has since gone on to shoot campaigns for brands such as Hermès, Levi’s, and editorial features for publications such as Vogue, Vice, New York, the New York Times, and Le Monde. Her photography has been featured in two solo shows at Agnès B, New York, and Bernal Espacio, Madrid.

Phyllis Posnick has been a key fashion editor at Vogue for more than thirty years, primarily responsible for the magazine’s health and beauty editorials. Posnick has worked with the most recognized fashion photographers of our time including Helmut Newton, Tim Walker, Steven Klein, Mario Testino, and Irvin Penn, to whom her recent book (Stoppers, Abrams, 2016) is dedicated.
