Aperture Members at the Benefactor Circle ($2,500) level or above are invited to the Semiannual Benefactor Luncheon with Aperture magazine’s managing editor Brendan Wattenberg and photographer Jamel Shabazz. Please join us for an afternoon of show-and-tell and a wide-ranging conversation about Shabazz’s life and career in photography.

Jamel Shabazz is a documentary, fashion, and street photographer, best known for his iconic photographs of New York City during the 1980s. He has authored eight monographs, and his work has been exhibited in Italy, France, Korea, Turkey, Germany, Ethiopia, Brazil, and Japan, and throughout the United States. Shabazz’s work is housed within the permanent collections of the Whitney Museum of American Art, the Smithsonian National Museum of African American History and Culture, the Studio Museum in Harlem, and the Bronx Museum of the Arts. He is a member of the photography collective Kamoinge.
