Description
For the past decade, photographer Jeff Chien-Hsing Liao has documented the city of New York. Through the use of multiple exposures, Liao produced the panoramic photograph Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade, New York, 2012.

In this image, Liao captures a time-honored tradition celebrated not only by New Yorkers but by all Americans. Since 1924, the Parade’s performers and oversized balloons have brought joy and wonderment to the millions of people who routinely turn out to watch childhood heroes and friends float down the west side of Manhattan, either in person or on television. The Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade is an indelible piece of New York history.
