Announcing the 2026 PhotoBook Awards Shortlist
Here are the 35 shortlisted titles for the Paris Photo–Aperture PhotoBook Awards, which celebrate this year’s achievements by publishers and artists.
Paris Photo and Aperture are pleased to announce the shortlist for the 2026 Paris Photo–Aperture PhotoBook Awards—an annual celebration of the photobook’s enduring role within the narrative of photography. Now in its fourteenth year, the awards recognize excellence in three major categories of photobook publishing: First PhotoBook, PhotoBook of the Year, and Photography Catalog of the Year.
This year, Paris Photo–Aperture PhotoBook Awards received a record number of books from fifty-six countries around the world, including standout entries from Armenia, Iran, Morocco, Venezuela, and more. On September 22–24, the 2026 shortlist jury met in New York for three concentrated days of review and deliberation by an international team: Alejandro Cartagena, artist; Alexandra Cunningham Cameron, director of design, Judd Foundation; Michael Famighetti, editor in chief, Aperture; Anna Planas, artistic director, Paris Photo; and Anshika Varma, curator and founder, Offset Projects.
“Reviewing the many submissions from around the globe underscores how photography books are a quietly powerful medium with endless possibilities for design, storytelling, and reflection on human experience,” says Michael Famighetti. Anna Planas adds, “The jury brings together different perspectives on photography and publishing. Through the selection presented at Paris Photo, we aim to highlight the photobook as a space for experimentation and to celebrate its importance within photography today.”
The shortlisted books will be exhibited at Paris Photo, open to the public from November 11 through November 15, followed by an international tour, including in Dublin at PhotoIreland, December 2026, New York at Printed Matter, January 2027, and other venues to be announced.
On Thursday, November 12, a final jury composed of five members will meet in Paris to select the winners for all three prizes, which will be revealed on Friday, November 13, at 3:00 p.m. (CET), at a ceremony at Paris Photo, and announced on Aperture.org and Parisphoto.com.
