Atlanta Book Launch: “A Long Arc: Photography and the American South”

Join Aperture and Lucian Books and Wine for an illuminating event with Gregory Harris, Curator of Photography at the High Museum, as he delves into the magnificent exhibition and accompanying catalog A Long Arc: Photography and the American South.
As the first major survey of Southern photography in twenty-five years, A Long Arc: Photography and the American South examines the South’s complicated history and reveals its critical impact on the evolution of the medium, posing timely questions about American culture and character. With more than one hundred photographers represented, including Gordon Parks, William Eggleston, Sally Mann, Carrie Mae Weems, Dawoud Bey, and An-My Lê, A Long Arc captures the immense complexity of the region in two hundred and fifty photographs taken in the area from 1845 to present.
Alongside several acclaimed photographers featured in the exhibition, Greg Harris will lead an evening of great discussion, passed hors d’oeuvres, and a selection of wines. Doors will open at 5pm with a brief presentation to follow.
This event is presented in partnership with Lucian Books and Wine.
