In Conversation: Ari Marcopoulos and Roger Willems at Enter Enter
Sunday, June 4
4:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. CET
Aperture is pleased to announce a conversation between artist Ari Marcopoulos and editor/designer Roger Willems, moderated by Lillian Wilkie, in celebration of Marcopoulos’s newest title, Ari Marcopoulos: Zines (Aperture, 2023).
The conversation will take place at the Enter Enter Gallery in Amsterdam, along with an exhibition of thirty-two previously unpublished zines by Marcopoulos, made between 2020 and 2023. The exhibition will also feature a hands-on reading room with a selection of previous publications by Marcopoulos, including all Roma Publications made in close collaboration with editor/designer Roger Willems. Enter Enter will present the exhibition from June 4 to July 8, 2023.
Ari Marcopoulos: Zines is the first overview of the photographer’s committed zine practice, including a selection of recent personal zines never before released. The project provides a unique insight and overview into an essential part of this influential artist’s daily practice. This collection showcases an impressive array of printed zines, exploring each as an artistic object through an engaging layout. Beginning in 2015 and presented chronologically per year, key zines are featured—including some made during the pandemic, when Marcopoulos worked primarily on the screen, making PDF zines—and punctuated by individual images presented full scale. Ari Marcopoulos: Zines is a must-have for anyone interested in this prolific artist’s personal practice and zine culture.
This event is presented in partnership with Enter Enter Gallery.
