At the 2024 Armory Show, Aperture presents new work from artist Avion Pearce, winner of the 2024 Aperture Portfolio Prize. Pearce’s award-winning series In the Hours Between Dawn depicts queer and trans communities of color in Brooklyn.
Aperture will also feature new publications and limited-edition books and prints from our program, including I’m So Happy You Are Here: Japanese Women Photographers from the 1950s to Now, a restorative history that presents a range of lived experiences and perspectives of women in Japanese society; Louis Carlos Bernal: Monografía, a landmark survey of the photographer’s intimate portrayals of the American Southwest; Arielle Bobb-Willis: Keep the Kid Alive, the first monograph by the New Black Vanguard featured artist that invites audiences into her brightly imaginative world of color, gesture and style; Robert Frank: The Americans, a return of the iconic 1968 publication on the occasion of the photographer’s centennial year; Zanele Muholi: Somnyama Ngonyama, Hail the Dark Lioness, Volume II, the highly anticipated second volume to the artist’s widely acclaimed and celebrated self-portrait series; and Nick Waplington: Living Room, a reissue of the 1991 book documenting the working-class British of the 1980s, with a special limited-edition slipcased book and print set available at the fair for the first time.
Aperture will also present a selection of rare and signed books, as well as new prints and editions by Pao Houa Her, Ernest Cole, Kelli Connell, Myriam Boulos, Kristine Potter, and more. The proceeds from Aperture’s limited-edition print program, in addition to benefiting the artists, help support Aperture’s not-for-profit publishing and public programs.
