During the Photography Show presented by the Association of International Photography Art Dealers (AIPAD), Aperture will introduce newly released titles, including Arielle Bobb-Willis: Keep the Kid Alive, the first book by The New Black Vanguard artist, showcasing exuberance and expression through fashion; Paul Mpagi Sepuya: Dark Room A–Z, an iterative return to the generative ways of working that have informed Sepuya’s image-making over the past two decades; Diana Markosian: Father, an intimate portrayal of estrangement and reconnection; Tina Barney: Family Ties, a collection of large-format portraits from the three decades that defined Barney’s career; Susan Meiselas: Nicaragua, a third edition of the 1981 classic documenting the nation’s revolution; Race Stories: Essays on the Power of Images, by Maurice Berger, the first title in Aperture’s Vision & Justice Book Series, featuring a collection of award-winning essays that explore the intersections of photography, race, and visual culture.
Additionally, a selection of signed artist books and limited editions will be available, including a selection of prints by artists featured in I’m So Happy You Are Here: Japanese Women Photographers from the 1950s to Now. Proceeds from Aperture’s limited-edition print program directly support the artist and Aperture’s nonprofit publishing and public programs.
In addition to our publishers’ booth, Aperture will also present a special installation of works, curated by Michael Famighetti, Aperture’s editor in chief, by the five artists shortlisted for the 2025 Aperture Portfolio Prize. The shortlisted photographers will be announced on April 15, 2025, through Aperture’s channels. Founded in 2006, the annual Aperture Portfolio Prize aims to discover, exhibit, and publish new talents in photography—identifying contemporary trends in the field and highlighting artists whose work deserves greater recognition.
The Spring issue of Aperture, “Photography & Painting,” will be available with special subscription incentives during the fair, as well as information on Aperture’s membership program. A series of artist book signings will also be announced shortly and added to the AIPAD event schedule.
Tickets to the Photography Show presented by AIPAD can be purchased here.
