At Home with the Simon Chaput
Thursday, November 12
1:00 p.m. - 1:45 p.m. EDT
Aperture is delighted to partner again with PAMM’s Photography and Video to host a special online visit with photographer Simon Chaput. Join us next Thursday, November 12 at 1pm EDT, as we visit Simon at home to hear about his practice and experience as a photographer.
Simon Chaput (b.1952) has produced many narrative stories on Buddhism and ancient cultures that require quiet appreciation and visual perception of mood and timing. His personal work includes a suite of images of the Stone Observatories of Jai Singh in Jaipur, India and a suite of modernist views of Manhattan’s architecture. Both bodies of work are representative of Chaput’s interest in abstraction and negative space.
Chaput has also worked with award winning directors and producers on documentary films. He is a close associate of the artists Christo and Jean-Claude, working with them on many of their projects and exhibitions over the past fifteen years. He was also the recipient of a photography grant from the Henry Luce Foundation.
Chaput’s photographs have appeared in Conde Nast Traveler, Daily Telegraph, L’Express, Le Figaro, Merian, Mirabella, New Woman, New York, New York Times, Philadelphia Inquirer, San Francisco Chronicle, Smithsonian Air & Space, Spin, VSC, Washington Post, and Tricycle among other publications worldwide.
All Aperture members will receive a Zoom invite. Not a member? See here or email kwalcott@aperture.org for details.
