Curatorial Talk: Pilar Tompkins Rivas
Wednesday, October 4
7:30 p.m. - 8:30 p.m. EST
Join the Michael C. Carlos Museum of Emory University for an online conversation with Pilar Tompkins Rivas, chief curator and deputy director of Curatorial and Collections at the Lucas Museum of Narrative Art, as she introduces her Aperture exhibition, You Belong Here: Place, People, and Purpose in Latinx Photography.
During the evening, Rivas will share her insights and reflections on the curatorial process of You Belong Here, which highlights themes of political resistance, family and community, fashion and culture, and the complexity of identity in Latin American life. The exhibition explores contemporary photography that sheds light on social spaces—from intimate portrayals of home and family to collective experiences of the streets and nightlife—and generates an expansive dialogue about visibility and belonging for Latinx people.
This program will be closed captioned in Spanish.
Advance registration is required. Please register here.
