Inside Aperture’s “Sleepwalking” Issue with Alec Soth

In this conversation Aperture magazine editor Michael Famighetti speaks with Alec Soth, guest editor of the magazine’s Summer issue “Sleepwalking.”

The “Sleepwalking” issue explores photography’s relationship to dreams, consciousness, and chance, covering a broad and surprising array of images and stories. In this discussion, Famighetti and Soth will speak about the making of the issue, which features Duane Michals, Sophie Calle, Elliott Jerome Brown Jr., Nancy Rexroth, and Emila Medková, among others.

Alec Soth is a photographer born and based in Minneapolis. He has published over twenty-five books and has had over fifty solo exhibitions. In 2008, Soth created Little Brown Mushroom, a multimedia enterprise focused on visual storytelling. He is also a member of Magnum Photos.
