Aperture, Paris Photo, and DELPIRE & CO are pleased to present a series of online conversations celebrating the Paris Photo–Aperture Foundation PhotoBook Awards. Over the course of two days, December 5 and 6, we’ll be joined by artists, and publishers from this year’s shortlist, as well as members of the jury, in discussion of their work and the critical role of photobooks.
Saturday, December 5:
11:00 a.m. EST: Sarah Meister, photography curator at the Museum of Modern Art (MoMA, New York), in conversation with artists Gloria Oyarzabal (Winner of PhotoBook of the Year), Soumya Sankar Bose, Edgar Martins and June Canedo.
12:00 p.m. EST: Lesley A. Martin, Creative Director at Aperture, in conversation with Deborah Willis, guest Editor of Issue 018 of The PhotoBook Review.
1:00 p.m. EST: Joshua Chuang, Senior Curator of Photography at the New York Public Library, in conversation with Artur Walther, the Walther Collection (Winner of Catalogue of the Year), and Brian Wallis.
Sunday, December 6:
11:00 a.m. EST: Azu Nwagbogu, founder and director of African Artists’ Foundation (AAF) and LagosPhoto Festival (Nigeria), in conversation with Benjamin Krewinkel, photo-historian, founder of the platform Africa in the Photobook.
12:00 p.m. EST: Jury member Laurel Parker, founder and artistic director of Laurel Parker Book studio (Paris), will be in conversation with American artist Buck Ellison (Winner of First PhotoBook of the Year) and his publisher, Loose Joints (Marseille).
1:00 p.m. EST: Susan Meiselas, photographer and director of the Magnum Foundation, in discussion with Carolyn Drake, author of Knit Club.
