For our August 2025 Aperture PhotoBook Club gathering, Aperture’s executive director, Sarah Meister, joined Richard Misrach alongside the book’s designer, Masumi Shibata, and the book’s editor, Noa Lin.

Noa Lin is associate editor of the Aperture book program. He works closely with the editors to help coordinate the editorial process on books. Before joining Aperture in 2022, he was an editorial assistant at Melcher Media. Noa holds a BA in studio art and English from Wesleyan University, Middletown, Connecticut.

Sarah Meister is executive director of Aperture. She joined Aperture in May 2021, following more than twenty-five years at the Museum of Modern Art, New York. She is the founder and host of the Aperture PhotoBook Club.

Richard Misrach (born in Los Angeles, 1949) is one of the most influential color photographers of his generation. His work is held in the collections of over fifty major institutions, including the Metropolitan Museum of Art, Whitney Museum of American Art, the Museum of Modern Art, New York, and the National Gallery of Art, Washington, DC. He is the recipient of numerous awards, including a Guggenheim Fellowship. His previous Aperture titles include Destroy This Memory (2010), Golden Gate (2012), Petrochemical America (with Kate Orff, 2012), The Mysterious Opacity of Other Beings (2015), Border Cantos (with Guillermo Galindo, 2016), and Richard Misrach on Landscape and Meaning (2021).

Masumi Shibata is a designer with over a decade of experience working with cutting-edge organizations across various industries. A wide range of creative output includes brand identities, websites and digital product designs, award-winning art books, and immersive museum exhibitions.
