Lesson 2

Form: This Equals That

Overview

The second lesson features the book This Equals That (Aperture, 2014), by Jason Fulford and Tamara Shopsin, an excellent teaching tool for introducing photographic form and visual vocabulary, as well as offering the first lesson in how simple juxtapositions can create associative meanings. Students take a second scavenger hunt in search of visual form and begin to understand the camera as a tool for seeing.
