Creator Labs Photo Fund Announces Season Three

Google’s Creator Labs Teams Up with Aperture to Provide Grants to Lens-Based Artists

Creator Labs 2024

New York, June 18, 2024—Google’s Creator Labs and Aperture are thrilled to launch the 2024 Creator Labs Photo Fund—an initiative providing financial support and visibility to encourage artists at formative moments in their careers.

Started in 2021 and now in its third season, the Creator Labs Photo Fund will continue its ongoing mission of making a dedicated financial commitment from Creator Labs and Google, supporting image-makers in partnership with Aperture by providing one-time $6,000 grants to thirty artists working in photography and lens-based practices.

The fund, made possible by Google Pixel in partnership with Aperture, will be free and open to any photographer or lens-based artist living in the United States. Thirty selected artists will each be awarded a prize of $6,000 and a Pixel 8a device, and will be featured on aperture.org and across Aperture’s social media channels.

Fifty artists have been awarded grants to date, with many going on to develop their careers and deepen the bodies of work that they began with the support of Creator Labs. A prime example of this is Tommy Kha, who shares: “The impact of receiving a Creator Labs Fund came at a time of a lot of doubt and deprioritizing picture making. The grant allowed me to realize a few photographs that led to new threads. I’m forever grateful for the set of eyes on my work and for the chance to satisfy my curiosities.”

Adraint Bereal similarly expresses his appreciation for the fund, stating: “Grants and opportunities like this one make it possible for artists to propel their work forward without financial worry. The cost of being an artist doesn’t go away, but the Creator Labs Photo Fund makes it more manageable.”

To apply to the Creator Labs Photo Fund, all entrants will need to submit 8 to 10 images from one body of work, showing a commitment to making a cohesive and compelling series or project. The project does not need to be finished in order to enter. Entrants will not be evaluated based on prior experience, publications, or exhibition history but instead on the strength and originality of their vision.

Submissions will be accepted from June 18 to July 15, 2024. For details, visit www.photo.fund.
