Description
Aperture is pleased to release this special limited-edition photograph by Todd Hido, whose comprehensive monograph, Intimate Distance: Twenty-Five Years of Photographs, A Chronological Album was published by Aperture in 2016. Well-known for his photographs of landscapes and suburban housing across the United States and his use of luminous color, Hido casts a distinctly cinematic eye across all that he photographs, digging deep into his memory and imagination for inspiration. Photographed in the foggy Bay Area of California, he started working on the series House Hunting in 1996 while cruising through the San Francisco suburbs at night. By way of long exposure and intense color, the image results are both beautiful and disturbing.
