We are pleased to partner with photographer Gillian Laub on an edition of signed prints from her publication Testimony (Aperture, 2007). Proceeds from the prints will go directly toward supporting the ACLU’s mission to reunite immigrant families, as well as Aperture’s mission to support the artists telling these stories. Photographing in Israel and Palestine, Gillian Laub produced a series of portraits of the inhabitants of Jerusalem, Haifa, Tel Aviv, Ramallah, Nablus, and other locations in the region, who were personally affected by the geopolitical context in which they live. Driven by her commitment to excavate the commonalities of human experience in a zone marred by seemingly irrevocable aggression and prejudice, Laub’s photographs show the resilience, pride, defiance, vulnerability—and most astonishing of all, optimism—of the people affected in these crises.

Gillian Laub (b. 1975, Chappaqua, New York) is a photographer and filmmaker based in New York. She received a Bachelors in Comparative Literature from the University of Wisconsin–Madison, before studying photography at the International Center of Photography, New York. Her works include the book, Testimony (Aperture, 2007), and the book and HBO film, Southern Rites (2015). Laub received a New York Foundation for the Arts fellowship in 2019.
