A practitioner of the "snapshot esthetic," Larry Fink—along with Diane Arbus, Robert Frank and Garry Winogrand—has redefined the way we look at life around us. Taken from amid the crowd rather than outside it, Fink's images reveal the sensitive core of interpersonal relationships—a quality nourished by his tutelage with Lisette Model. Fink's photographs speak to us so deeply because they possess both a particular understanding of and remarkable insight into the social, political, and economic circumstances of their time.

Larry Fink (b. 1941, Brooklyn, New York) has had solo shows at the Museum of Modern Art, the Whitney Museum of Modern Art, the San Francisco Museum of Art, the Musee de la Lausanne Photographie in Belgium, and the Musee de l’Elysee in Switzerland, among other venues. A recipient of two John Simon Guggenheim Fellowships and two National Endowment for the Arts, Individual Photography Fellowships, his work has appeared commercially and in top publications for 45 years. He is currently a professor of photography at Bard College.
