EXPO Chicago 2023
Thursday, April 13 - Sunday, April 16
11:00 a.m. - 6:00 p.m. CST
Aperture Booth: 126
Aperture will introduce newly released titles, including Ernest Cole: House of Bondage, the reissue of the powerful 1967 document of the Apartheid era featuring a chapter of never-before-seen images; Sam Contis: Overpass, a reflection on what it means to move through a landscape; Tommy Kha: Half, Full, Quarter, a debut photobook that traces East Asian stories embedded in the topography of the American South; and Kimowan Metchewais: A Kind of Prayer, the first survey of the late Cree artist, exploring Indigenous identity, community, and colonial memory. The Spring issue of Aperture, “We Make Pictures in Order to Live” will be available with special subscription discounts, exclusively at Expo Chicago.
Also, in addition to a selection of new prints and editions by Kelli Connell, Sara Cwynar, Tommy Kha, John Edmonds, Zora J Murff, Alex Webb, and Hank Willis Thomas, Aperture will release the first in a series of limited-edition prints produced in collaboration with Autograph, a work by Rotimi Fani-Kayode. This series celebrates Autograph’s thirty-five years of work in photography on the themes of race, rights, and representation.
The proceeds from Aperture’s limited-edition print program, in addition to benefiting the artists, help support Aperture’s not-for-profit publishing and public programs.
