Kelli Connell Studio Visit

Executive Director Sarah Meister invites Paul Strand Circle members and above to an exclusive studio visit in Chicago with Kelli Connell, in anticipation of the upcoming spring 2024 Aperture publication, Kelli Connell: Pictures for Charis.

Kelli Connell: Pictures for Charis edited by Aperture Creative Director Lesley Martin, draws upon the relationship between photographer Edward Weston and writer Charis Wilson, who traveled together throughout the American West. It will be accompanied by a traveling exhibition at the Center for Creative Photography, Tucson, the High Museum of Art, Atlanta, and the Cleveland Museum of Art. 

Aperture additionally welcomes Paul Stand Circle members and above to EXPO Chicago Fair, April 13–16, at Navy Pier, 600 E Grand Ave, Chicago. Guests will receive EXPO Chicago VIP tickets and the VIP program via email closer to the date of the fair.

Kelli Connell (born in Oklahoma City, 1974) is an artist whose work investigates sexuality, gender, identity, and photographer/sitter relationships. Her work is in the collections of the Metropolitan Museum of Art, Los Angeles County Museum of Art, and the Philadelphia Museum of Art, among others. Publications of her work include PhotoWork: Forty Photographers on Process and Practice (Aperture, 2019), MP3: Midwest Photographers Publication Project (Aperture, 2006), and the monograph Kelli Connell: Double Life (2006). Connell is a professor of photography at Columbia College Chicago.
