Before joining Aperture, Sarah Meister spent more than twenty-five years at the Museum of Modern Art. Her MoMA exhibition Dorothea Lange: Words & Pictures (2020) and her book on the making of Migrant Mother are among the definitive examinations on the image. In this special members-only session, she’ll reflect on the history of Lange’s iconic 1936 photograph and its continued significance today.
Lange was one of Aperture’s founders, and what better way to mark the ninetieth anniversary of this unforgettable image than spending an hour with one of the leading critical voices on Lange’s most famous work—in the company of fellow members.
