Snap!: Contemporary Street Photography
Join The Museum of the City of New York for a conversation with contemporary street photographers Richard Bram, a member of the international street photography collective, iN-PUBLiC; Bruce Gilden of Magnum Photos, Sylvia Plachy, Goings On About Town: Photographs for the New Yorker (Aperture, 2007)and Richard Sandler, who will reflect on how they approach people, public spaces, and the unpredictable nature of their work. With the Victorian images of London and gritty New York street scenes on view in the Museum’s first floor galleries as a reference point, these photographers will discuss how they prepare for heading out to work; what they won’t shoot; and whether living in a world where everyone has a camera on their phone has changed the way they see their subjects, and themselves. The program will be moderated by curator Sean Corcoran. Presented in conjunction with London Street Photography and City Scenes: Highlights of New York Street Photography.
